"Is it a bad idea?"
Advice from Kasia Xavier
Is having sex during your period a bad idea?
It’s a good one.
There is no medical reason not to have sex during menstruation. In fact, many women assert that it actually helps to ease their cramps. I personally find that just working my whole pelvic area (internally) loosens me and makes me feel more relaxed. It could also be that the hormonal cocktail of arousal and orgasm distracts me from any cramping discomfort I may have had.

“Whoa… it looks like there was a war here.”

The only stumbling block people seem to have around period sex is that in some cultures and circles it’s considered taboo. I attribute this to an overall lack of knowledge and reverence toward sex and womens’ bodies in general.
The most powerful and pleasurable sexual experiences come from complete openness and acceptance of yourself and your partner. This extends from accepting and loving who you are to being comfortable with your body. Period sex falls into the category of being able to accept all the by-products of hot, sweaty, abandon-filled sex.
Some of my most memorable sexual experiences took place while having period sex. Even though I don’t find anything wrong with period sex, just the fact that it is considered transgressive for some people, adds to the excitement of it. I love that my sheets act as a visual record to passion. One lover said to me after the fact, glancing down at the white sheets:
“Whoa… it looks like there was a war here.”
I took it as a major compliment.

I remember seeing a post on Synthetic Pubes' tumblr in which he features a photograph of a woman and period blood. I think there was a guy in it, and the implication was that they’d just had sex.
The attendant comments were insane. People were first freaking out that he’d hurt her and that's what the blood was from. Then someone clued in that they’d just had period sex. The reactions were worse than when they thought she’d been hurt.
The “ewwww’ attitude toward healthy bodily fluids is nothing more than an indication of someone’s sexual immaturity and uncouthness. If you are a sophisticated fucker you love it all – blood, sweat, tears and come. It's a good barometer for sexual openness. If someone is opposed to period sex, male or female, dump them.
